This course is the antidote to writer's block. The Spontaneity Shop takes
the
fear out of getting started and shows you how to find originality through
accessing what is obvious to you. Writing will become effortless and fun
rather
than "staring at the page until your forehead bleeds" as Douglas Adams
described it.
Use Keith Johnstone's improvisation techniques to build compelling stories
and learn
about the structures which underpin them. We will give you a language to
deconstruct
stories, so that telling them will become so second nature you will be able
to make
them up on the spot. After spending the weekend telling spontaneous stories
you will
try out these techniques on Sunday afternoon writing and sharing what you
have written with the group.
Taught by Deborah Frances-White - one of the winners of the Cameron
Macintosh
Playwriting competition judged by Christopher Hampton.
"I was so inspired by the course I wrote a play on the tube
on the way home and then produced it myself." - Past student.
