The Write Idea
The Write Idea meet every fortnight on a Monday evening.We are quite keen to promote intercourse between our group and any others involved in writing of stories, competitions, literary agents and publishers. We are a group of about 18 subscription-paying members, set up in May 1999, and sponsored by Maidstone Borough Council. We currently have several published authors, one or two others negotiating publishing offers, several who have novels complete or very near, and two Science Fiction short story specialists (one of which is myself). An anthology is planned for next year and we have several workshops under consideration right now. (We are currently on a summer recess - mid July to 1 October).
Peter Guttridge - BBC Bookcase Website and Director of the Brighton Literature Festival - is our guest writer in residence.
Other contacts include the authors, Robert Rankin and Ms Chris Savage-King.
We are also looking in the near future to concentrate on the commercial aspect of publishing, and will be hosting a publishing agent on a professional basis in the near future, though due to our already established programme, probably not this side of Christmas.
