The Isle of Wight Writers' Circle (& Poetry Society) meet twice a month from September to June and once in August, at a selection of venues (members' houses).

The Isle of Wight Writers' Circle (& Poetry Society) will teach you how to get into the writing habit, either for selling your work or simply for your own satisfaction. Email: iowwriterscircle@gdtp.freeserve.co.uk or iwwcchr@nascr.net.

Most of our meetings take the form of 'workshops', with the "Poetry Time" adding flavour to the break for refreshments. Meetings have given birth to some promising writers, including likely professional novelists.

We issue a newsletter to members every month and hope to issue a fuller newsletter perhaps twice a year to public libraries. Meanwhile, we've lodged floppy discs with them, containing copies of newsletters for the last six months, plus other information.

We have the dual role of writers' circle and poetry society as we keep alive the spirit of the former Isle of Wight Poetry Society, by speaking our chosen poems during the break for refreshments - the works of nationally known poets past and present. In the future we may hold extra meetings devoted entirely to poetry.
