This year's season of MASTERCLASSES features several leading playwrights and
we would like to welcome any young people who are interested in attending
the following:
NOVEMBER 12: SHELAGH STEPHENSON
A prolific writer for radio, stage and screen, Shelagh Stephenson is perhaps
best known in theatre circles for 'The Memory of Water' which transferred
from Hampstead Theatre to the West End (Vaudeville) She won the Writers
Guild Award in 1996 for Best Original Radio Play. The Masterclass will focus on writing dialogue and how to make it work.
NOVEMBER 29: ARNOLD WESKER
Arnold Wesker is one of the key figures of 20th century drama who helped
change the face of British theatre in the late 50's & 60's. He has written
36 plays, many of which have been translated and performed all over the
world. His Masterclass will consist of a talk followed by a reading from 'Whatever
to Betty Lemon?' and discussion.
All Masterclasses take place at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and commence at
2.30pm lasting approximately 2 hours.
Masterclass was set up to inspire and enthuse a new generation of
theatregoers and practitioners through access to theatre and artists of the
very highest quality. All sessions are free of charge.
