we perceive the world through our emotions and actions. This 1-day
course will include timed exercises and inspired examples of writing
from the heart to help you gain access to your own. This lively and
engaging, new workshop wil include:
• two 2.5 hour writing sessions
• techniques to develop your writing skills
• exercises to tune into your heart-mind
• the opportunity to have writing done in the workshop read and
discussed (voluntary)
The workshop will be conducted in a friendly, constructive atmosphere
and is open to anyone with a desire to write, from beginners to
experienced writers.

Isanna Curwen
Isanna Curwen runs creative writing workshops at beginners and intermediate level at Kemptown Bookshop, Brighton. She studied an MA in creative writing at UEA. Recently she was awarded an Arts Council Grant to complete her first novel and is currently working with her agent to prepare her novel for eventual publication.
The workshops cover:
- Finding ideas and inspiration
- How to get going
- The specifics of plot
- Characterisation and narrative voice
Over ten weeks in a friendly environment, students are shown interesting and innovative ways to unlock inspiration and to turn those ideas into workable stories.
Using writing exercises and discussion, we take the opportunity to share and discuss work supportively. The aim of the course is for students to enjoy the process of writing fiction and be provided with the insight and confidence to feel they could go on with writing independently.
