A short course for people in Berkshire and West London who would like to learn how to write articles for pleasure and publication in magazines.
Closing date for applications 14th February 2004.
This course is designed to help anyone who has an ambition to see their work in print in a magazine. The tutor, Richard Hill is a local writer who began writing for magazines in 1996 and has since had his work read by an estimated 3 million readers.
Many people believe that most freelance writers in magazines are accomplished professionals. Not so. Most contributors are writers who simply have something new and interesting to share. What enables them to get published is an understanding of what an editor is actually looking for. Then, it’s just a matter of following a few simple rules and guidelines.
Each class will consist of a teacher-led exploration of a particular aspect of writing for magazines. Subjects covered will include: assessing the tone of different publications, how to structure an article, interviewing techniques, how to develop a ‘voice’ and how to approach editors with your work.
Course fee = £60 (UKP)
