The Newton Abbot and District Writer's Circle was founded 36 years ago. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.15 p.m. in The Jolly Abbot on East Street in Newton Abbot (upstairs conference room).

There is also a short story group which meets every third Wednesday at 7.30 pm.

We are a mixed bunch - published and unpublished in most medias. The meetings are for moral support, motivation, constructive help and the chance to air your work to a captive audience.

ANTHOLOGY

There are still a limited number of copies of the antholoy produced by the Circle with the aid of funds from the National Lottery and local council and business funding. The whole book was produced by the members including the design, writing and proof-reading. It's called '1% INSPIRATION'. it contains over 60 pieces of work ranging from fiction and non-fiction to poetry. Cost - £3.50.

NOVEL WRITERS

In the absence of a regular Novel Focus Group, for those who are in the process of writing pieces over 5,000 words, members of the group can be approached to provide feedback and constructive criticism. Contact and support can then continue between participating members at their own pace and convenience. Texts should be accompanied by a synopsis, clearly labelled, printed and double-line spaced.
