'Running Good Writing Groups' publication
The National Association of Writers’ Groups has recently produced “Running good writing groups.” The publication is a loose-leaf folder containing 33 double-sided A4 sheets, arranged in ten separate sections. Following the preface are: 1. Why writing groups? 2. What kind of writing group? 3. Making it happen. 4. Activities for writing workshops. 5. 49 exercises for when your mind’s a blank 6. The tricky matter of constructive criticism. 7. Be warned: Trouble and trouble-shooting. 8. Going public. 9. Running out of steam. 10. Contacts and resources. There is also an appendix: Running training days. The authors of the resource pack are Mark Robinson and Dr Rebecca O’Rourke. Mark is a poet, critic and arts worker. He is currently Director, Arts & Development at Arts Council England, North East. Rebecca is a writer, critic and academic. She is a Senior Lecturer in the University of Leeds School of Continuing Education.
