FREE PLACES FOR WRITER/PERFORMERS ON TWO SPOTLIGHT WORKSHOPS

Performing your own poetry, prose or stand-up material can be a dream or a nightmare. why not make it a pleasure for yourself and your audiences by taking time out to work with professionals who can guide you towards developing your skills and confidence? As part of it’s 2006/07 programme Spotlight is organising a series of workshops designed to help you do just that. Workshops are open to any writers in the north west who would like to gain more confidence in performing their own words at live-writing events.
* pick up basic performance techniques (such as how to centre yourself, breathe easily, moderate your voice)
* play around with words, ideas, physicality
* experiment with improvisation
* meet and work with other writers
* generally extend your range16 JULY: Sue McCormick is an Actress and Theatre Director who also has a wealth of experience in organising and running workshops in performance, presentation, singing and using the voice. As an actress she has experience of theatre, film, televison and radio.
23 JULY:Ann Wilson is a Lecturer in Performing Arts at Furness College she is also a self employed spoken word artist and project co-ordinator and is currently South Cumbria Poet Laureate. She has performed at various stand-up comedy and spoken word venues throughout the UK, including Glastonbury Poetry and Words Tent, Edinburgh Festival and Solfest.Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
