I have no information yet about groups in Indonesia but have received details of a marvellous festival. As this notice arrived in early January 2005 (i.e. after the tsunami disaster) I assume all is (relatively) well in Ubud and the festival is going ahead as planned.

UBUD WRITERS AND READERS FESTIVAL

Initiated in 2004 by the Saraswati Foundation for the Arts, the Ubud Writers' and Readers' Festival is a wonderful new event on the international literary calendar. The Festival Committee is currently developing the program for 2005 and is soliciting names of potential presenters from publishers, industry professionals and writers of all genres. We are especially interested in attracting writers who have a familiarity with Asia or a multi-cultural focus and whose themes include challenging traditions and cultural identity.

WHERE:
UBUD, BALI, INDONESIA

WHO:
Writers / Readers / Publishers / Performers / Artists / Scholars / Translators / Booksellers / Travellers, and others who appreciate the Arts and Literature

EVENTS:
The program will feature challenging and stimulating venues including:
BI-LINGUAL READINGS, DISCUSSIONS, POETRY, WORKSHOPS, BOOKSHOPS, PERFORMANCES, EXHIBITIONS, BOOK & MAGAZINE LAUNCHES, LITERARY LUNCHES, MUSICAL EVENTS, CULTURAL TOURS
