The group has been running for 75 years and this year we are celebrating that achievement!

We meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in the back room of the County Public House (behind the Huddersfield Town Hall). We alternate between reading meetings and workshops, with a few competitions and guest speakers throughout the year.

If anyone is interested to join we usually ask for a sample of work just so we know what the writers want to work on and how we can help them.

There's a small annual fee (£12 per year), which covers any running costs we have.

Many of our writers have had short stories and articles published in magazines and small presses, and some have book deals ongoing. Some simply come because they like to write and read things out for feedback and improvement, so you don't have to be a published author to join, nor have any ambition to be published.

We also try and take part in local events such as the Huddersfield Literature Festival, Holmfirth Arts and Music Festival and the Mrs Sunderland Competition held in February in the Town Hall.
