Bradford Writers' Circle generally meet 2.30 to 4.30 p.m. in the Basement
Room of the CVS Building, 19/25, Sunbridge Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire,
on the 1st Monday in the month (except Bank Holidays). This venue is in the
centre of Bradford near most bus routes and close to the train station. It
is well lit and has access for the disabled via a lift at the rear door
entrance. It is ideal if you have never attended a group before.
We also meet in Shipley at the Kirkgate Community Centre from 7.00 to
9.30 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday in the month (except Bank Holidays).
This venue is opposite the Shipley Town Hall and on the same side as the
Clock Tower, next to Crowgill Park. Our 3rd meeting in the month has
usually more of a social style and we each bring some food along.
We do have a programme for those who wish the full details. Alternatively
you can purchace a 2010 calendar for £4.00 which details our meetings. This
was produced from photographs (taken) and poems (written) by our members
at a workshop in January.
We cater for anyone interested in trying out a writing group. If we do not
have what they are looking for quite often we can pass them onto another
group. We like to think of ourselves as a launching pad for new or
established writers who have never joined a group previously.
Our fees are £1.00 (£1.50 per meeting for non Members) in the afternoon,
£1,50 (£2.00 for non Members in the evenings) and £6.50 for membership for
the year.
We open our doors to all colours, creeds and ages. You may bring work
along to read out and we offer honest and encouraging criticism. We hold
competitions from time to time which are open to outsiders.
