The Barrhead Players are an established drama group in East Renfrewshire always on the look-out for people all over Glasgow and beyond to join. We have members from all walks of life, all ages and even some coming from as far a field as Greenock & Ayr!

We rehearse weekly in the EU Church Hall, Lowndes in Barrhead on Tuesdays - with a two month break over the summer and another two month break after our Xmas show.

We perform locally written plays and support local community causes. Performing two shows a year is great fun and hard work and we will always aim to stretch the performance capabilities of our members. Already we have performed our own adaptation of Sleeping Beauty and more recently an adult comedy based in the 1930's called Radio Mystery Theatre. Both were a phenomenal success and we have already a Xmas show planned for the end of this year and a Cabaret for the middle of 2008! We are also involved with a Media company and are in the midst of rehearsals for a short film - we aim to really push our limits as a group!

The hours of rehearsals are 7pm - 9pm (sometimes 10pm) every Tuesday. Costs are £2 for adults and £1 for under 16s and concessions. This ensures we meet the costs for our hall and can provide funding towards make-up/costumes etc.

We have an incredible amount of fun at rehearsals and always incorporate workshops and drama exercises into the begining weeks of rehearsals before we really knuckle down. We cover things such as movement, voice, characterisation, using props and improvisation. We will also be upping the stakes this year and moving into techniques by Stanislavsky and Brecht - and incorporating exercises by Viola Spolin.

Don't let the big names put you off - we are an amazing bunch of unique people who produce increasingly better and better shows - so if the sky's the limit for you, then get in touch with us!
