THE ORIGAMI MAN
by
Tomas Corless

Back to Ashton Writers home page

Once upon a time far, far away lived a man who loved origami. Everything he made was blue. He folded blue paper to make his house. He made blue flowers in the garden. He made a blue dog for a pet.

The origami man spent all his spare time folding blue paper to make blue objects and he was happy and content. But one day the origami man folded blue paper to make a dragon. The blue dragon was very angry because he didn't like being blue. The dragon thought he should be red, but the origami man only liked folding blue paper. The blue dragon was very angry and breathed fire on the origami man's house and garden. The origami dog ran away. The origami man was no longer happy and content. All his blue possessions were burnt to ashes. The blue dragon flew away, breathing blue flames and for a time the origami man did not fold any paper.

Then one day his blue dog came home and asked the origami man to make him a kennel. Once again, the origami man folded paper and soon a new house and garden stood in place of the old.

They were all blue.

If there's anybody out there who is of an artistic bent and fancies doing some illustrations for Tomas's story, Chris Wood, Ashton Writers and Mere Oaks School would be very grateful. Email: Ashtonwriters@aol.com
