LOUISE CAHILL


Louise Cahill is an award winning freelance journalist, photographer and public speaker, who has had over 200 features published in an extensive range of over 65 publications.

These include the Daily Mail, the Daily Express, Scotland on Sunday, the Western Mail, the Irish Examiner, the Yorkshire Post, Travel Weekly, Nursery World, Scuba World, Take a Break's Win and Go, Bella, General Practitioner and the Big Issue in the North.

Louise illustrates her features with her own photographs, and has also had several photos published on front covers.

She has had four short stories broadcast by BBC North-West on 'Write Now'.

She was awarded the Writers' News Freelance Journalist of the Year Award for 1995 and Highly Commended in the Lady Violet Astor Award 1995, organised by the Society of Women Writers and Journalists.

Her speciality is travel writing, mainly about cruises, and a burning ambition was to visit Antarctica until a bad experience on the Beagle Channel, Argentina!

Louise has spoken publicly on many occasions.

Louise has spoken at writers' conferences and has been a course leader at the Writers' Summer School, Swanwick, when she has led courses on 'Journalism and Photography' and 'Writing using your Five Senses'.

Prior to 2009, she has spoken at the Writers' Summer School, Swanwick, Southport Writers' Circle, Scarborough Writers' Weekend, a writers' weekend at Grange-over-Sands, JNF Wednesday Group, Nicky Alliance centre, Cheadle Library, Since joining Didsbury Speakers (Toastmasters International) in 2009, she has spoken at York Writers' Club, Swanwick, Probus Timperley, and Ayr Writers' Club.

She won Didsbury Speakers' Evaluation Contest 2011.

She judged York Writers' travel article competition and Ayr Writers' Scottish article competition.

She has an extensive range of speeches and can tailor a speech to suit your writers' circle.

Speeches include, 'Interview Techniques','Travel Writing', 'Water, Water, Everywhere', 'Every cloud' and 'Three Significant Argentine Men'.

She looks forward to paid speaking engagements and is prepared to travel.
